  16. There was recently a thread that talked about the performance of the UVWs.
  17. I use the UVWs and think they work fine.  Their tape transport is much
  18. slower than the PVW and BVW decks, but in a non-linear situation that
  19. doesn't matter as much.  But the networks look down their noses at them.  I
  20. guess its that $20k price difference.

  22. Last year I worked on a PBS series called Presence of Place.  Global locator
  23. animations, DEM stuff etc. The animations for the pilot were sent off to an
  24. abekas, because the I didn't have a PAR or PVR in my Alpha(March 95).  PBS
  25. approved the show and we went on to do 26 episodes with more that 100
  26. animations total.  The series was recently completed and sent to PBS.  PBS
  27. sent a note back to the Producers of the show stating that the animations
  28. displayed 3 extra lines of vertical blanking.  I know that the Toaster
  29. displays 2 extra lines (or something like that) and that is why it has a bad
  30. reputation in the Network arena.  The producers of the show were able to get
  31. PBS to accept the flaw, but I ask you,  What gives.

  33. Has anyone else had these problems with the anal retentive technicians of
  34. the elite broadcast world.

  36. I know that the PVR has SIX extra lines of blanking.  Scott Wheeler from
  37. Area 52 said that the editors on Space A&B wont use the PVR output.
